This engaging, full-day training is designed for professionals who want to build their confidence, sharpen their skills, and stay at the forefront of best practice in domestic abuse response. Whether you work in health, social care, education, policing, or the voluntary sector, this course offers the essential knowledge and tools you need to support victims more effectively.
You will explore the complex power and control dynamics that underpin abusive relationships. You will develop practical risk assessment skills, and gain clarity around referral pathways. All within a trauma-informed framework that puts survivor safety and empowerment at the centre.
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
- Identify subtle and overt signs of domestic abuse across a range of settings
- Understand the emotional, psychological and physical impact on adults and children
- Confidently carry out a DASH risk assessment and respond appropriately to disclosures
- Know when and how to refer to MARAC and specialist domestic abuse services
- Integrate trauma-informed principles into your everyday practice

We have limited places and it is therefore important that you only register for a course if you intend to attend. If you are unable to attend your course for any reason, you must unregister so someone else can take your place. IDAS will report repeat incidents of non-attendance to your direct report.
We operate a three strikes policy and non-attenders who miss three sessions will be blocked from registering for future IDAS training.
