Learn about what constitutes domestic abuse, the signs, indicators and effects, how to refer to specialist services in Sheffield (including IDAS) and how each of the services can help.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, participants should:

  • Be familiar with the signs of domestic abuse
  • Understand the legislation around domestic abuse and coercive control
  • Have a raised awareness of the realities and effects of domestic abuse on children and adult victims
  • Be able to identify resources in Sheffield to support victims of domestic abuse
  • Be familiar with basic knowledge of the legal framework and policies relating to domestic abuse and safeguarding.

This course is suitable for all staff and carers based in Sheffield working with children and young people and who are involved in multi-agency partnerships.

This course is a beginner’s course and should be attended prior to completing the DASH & MARAC training as the two complement each other.
