Join us for a full day session to raise your awareness and understanding of safeguarding children and young people in a domestic abuse context. This interactive course is designed to deepen your awareness and understanding of the complexities surrounding domestic abuse and its profound impact on children and young people. Throughout the day, you’ll gain valuable insights into how domestic abuse can affect parenting and the ability to ensure the safety of children. By the end of this course, you’ll be empowered with the knowledge and confidence to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course participants should:
- Have a good understanding of how domestic abuse can impact children and young people
- Understand the impacts of domestic abuse on parenting and the ability to safeguard
- Have increased confidence in identifying the signs and indicators of children affected by domestic abuse
- Understand the importance of risk assessment and safety planning
- Understand referral pathways within Barnsley and be aware of resources available to support victims of domestic abuse
Timings include a 45 minute lunch break.
We run a programme of domestic abuse training events throughout the year in collaboration with Barnsley City Council. These events are free and available to professionals working in Barnsley. If you do not work in Barnsley, please see our national training programme which can be accessed by everybody. We have limited places and it is therefore important that you only register for a course if you intend to attend. If you are unable to attend your course for any reason, you must unregister so someone else can take your place. IDAS will report repeat incidents of non-attendance to your direct report and you may be subject to a non-attendance fee.
We operate a three strikes policy and non-attenders who miss three sessions will be blocked from registering for future IDAS training.
