Domestic Abuse Awareness (Ask for Ani)

January 27 | 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Woman participating in an online training session

Join our experts to learn how you can be more domestic abuse aware.

This short session is aimed at organisations and businesses who are supporting the public and may be able to offer a lifeline to a victim or survivor of domestic abuse.

These organisations and businesses include, but are not limited to: pharmacies, GPs, supermarkets, local shops, post offices, housing associations and many more. We would also like to extend an invitation to our local representatives including councillors, MPs, council workers and other charities and organisations supporting the public.

The aim of the session is to increase your confidence in responding to disclosures of domestic abuse and help you to understand the support available for victims and survivors. Whether you are participating in the ‘Ask for Ani’ scheme or not, there is plenty that you can do to improve the support and options available for people affected by domestic abuse.

We will cover:

  • The services IDAS provide
  • What the ‘Ask for Ani’ scheme is
  • The warning signs that someone is affected by domestic abuse
  • What a disclosure might be like
  • How to respond effectively to a disclosure
  • Consideration of risk and safety
  • Your options for signposting and offering additional support
