  • Understand how to respond to a victim (or potential victim)  in order to protect them
  • Have a raised awareness of the safeguarding issues associated with forced marriage and honour-based violence

We run a programme of domestic abuse training events throughout the year in collaboration with Sheffield City Council. These events are free and available to professionals working in Sheffield. We have limited places and it is therefore important that you only register for a course if you intend to attend. If you are unable to attend your course for any reason, you must unregister so someone else can take your place. IDAS will report repeat incidents of non-attendance to your direct report.

We operate a three strikes policy and non-attenders who miss three sessions will be blocked from registering for future IDAS training.

Supporting Victims of Honour Based Abuse and Forced Marriage – CPD accredited

This CPD accredited, half day course will explore the unique experiences of victims of so-called “honour based abuse” and forced marriage. · Identify the signs that suggest someone is experiencing or at risk of experiencing honour based abuse and/or a forced marriage

· Explore the impacts of honour based abuse and forced marriage on victims and wider family members

· Gain insight of the legal protection provided by the law in the form of forced marriage protection orders and the Forced Marriage Unit.

· Have increased confidence in encouraging, facilitating and receiving disclosures

· Gain increased knowledge in how specialist support can be provided to victims including making referrals to local and national services

The course costs £35 and you will have the option to pay using a Debit or Credit card after registering. You will also be given the opportunity to request an invoice at this stage if you prefer. All invoice requests must be received within 7 days of registration, otherwise your place will be cancelled.

Our training events are usually heavily oversubscribed. If there are no places left for this training session, please email us at: training@idas.org.uk and we will let you know when new dates become available.
